This article aims to guide you on how to block WhatsApp group chat files from downloading to your gallery. In Cameroon where I hail from, you often hear some users complain of my phone is running low on storage and I have uninstalled most of my applications but still face the same problem. But when you interview them to ask, which application do you use most on your device, the response 8/10 is WhatsApp. I tell them to disable auto-download for their photos, videos, etc. (click here to know more). Blocking WhatsApp Group Chat Files from Downloading to your Gallery.
- Open a group on WhatsApp.
- Touch the name of the group at the top of the group chat.
- Scroll down and select "Media visibility".
- In this new window, select "No" and confirm with "OK".
NB: To apply this fully, go and do the same in all the groups you don't wish to have their files downloading to your device. Also, note that enabling this feature means no files you download in that group will be downloaded to your gallery.
