Top Phones in the Business With 6 GB RAM

SHARE:

The RAM can be as valuable as your processor, or hard drive. With the right amount of RAM on your device, the performance and the ability to support various types of software is optimised.

When we take a Look at computers and electronic devices some years ago, users may remember when RAM was measured in Kilobytes instead of Gigabytes as it is the case today. Now computers and phones have evolved as well as software and the needs of users. In this article we will take a look at what is a RAM, why should you care so much about it, how does RAM work in smartphones and some phones released in April 2019 with 6GB RAM.

WHAT IS A RAM

A RAM stands for Random Access Memory.  This indicates that any part of the data it (RAM) stores can be accessed directly. The phone doesn’t have to scan through serially-stored data as you might do with a CD, an old tape cassette or, most importantly a hard drive. It’s effectively instant-access.

Why Should You Care So Much About RAM

⦁ All parts of a computer or smartphone have a role to play in the functioning of the device, but the RAM is essentially the core of your computer or smartphone. The RAM can be as valuable as your processor, or hard drive. With the right amount of RAM on your device, the performance and the ability to support various types of software is optimised.

⦁ RAM also creates a platform for your system to support software. Every piece of software requires a minimum amount of space and memory to be able to run smoothly. If your computer or smartphone does not have sufficient RAM to support all the software your system is running or trying to run, your device will perform so slowly that it might not be worth running that software and you might end up uninstalling it. To add, if there is not enough storage space, the software might not run at all.

⦁ Devices with more RAM can run more sophisticated software and multiple applications at the same time. More RAM increases the size of the workspace, giving you more room to run more complicated things. A user who multi-task and simultaneously opens several tabs on a Web browser, launches Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Instagram, game etc. will notice a fall in RAM. Therefore the more RAM you have, the higher the speed of running your Apps.

⦁ The overall performance of your smartphone is determined by how well your CPU and RAM work together. The more RAM your CPU has access to, the easier its job becomes, which enables a faster computer. If you do not have a sufficient amount of RAM, then your CPU has so much work, which makes it much harder to transfer data, which severally damages the computer’s performance.

How Does RAM Work In Smartphones?

Smartphones have a well- defined memory management system. They are designed to use more RAM to provide a user-friendly experience.
For example, when you download and install an App, it gets stored on your permanent storage (internal or external SD card). Anytime you launch or open the App, its data is moved to the  RAM. (All the live-running processes run on RAM). Even if you close that particular App after a while, Android will not remove it from memory (I mean RAM), so that when next you want to use the App, it can recall it faster at any time you want. The processes that stay on RAM even after the closing is called background processes.

Can You Increase RAM In Your Smartphone?

No, you can’t. Unlike PC, RAM on your smartphone can’t be upgraded.
It is true that more RAM means smoother performance as it becomes possible to keep more apps in the background. Sometimes, some apps may slow down the performance of your smartphone. You have to doubt their legibility when huge performance issue occurs even in situations of freer RAM.

I hope that these reasons should help convince you why during your next smartphone purchase or upgrade you should consider how much RAM is available on the device. Taking into consideration, this advice would be beneficial to you and your wallet. Comparing RAM capacity instead of Camera options and deciding which OS you want based on its performance, seems like the more educated decision.
