Furthermore, Limbe has five confirmed cases, while Buea has seven and Kumba has its first case. This result is after 222 cases were tested in the region. The region so far has one dead that was exported to Douala.
Moreso, Dr Ebongo Zacheus went ahead to say, 2 of the 12 cases were health care personnel, and the case fatality rate for Covid-19 in the region is 8.3 per cent. The patients are being treated at the Buea Regional Hospital specialised COVID-19 Centre, with the assistance of Doctors without Borders. He also added that those who develop cardiovascular complications are sent to Douala where the recovery rate is very encouraging, according to officials from the Ministry of Public Health.
Moreover, we are stepping up our control measures firstly by implementing the measures put in place by the state. At the level of the region, we are improving on contact tracing to these positive 13 cases and also trying to improve on the case management said the Regional Delegate of Public Health to the press.
To continue, Dr Ebongo says two testing centres have been made available, that is the University of Buea and the Cameroon Baptist Convention Hospital at Mutengene. In case they are in need of support, the Ministry of Public Health is ready to grant it's expertise and assistance.
