God Never Disappoints Those Who Hope and Trust in Him.
WISDOM FOR TODAY
Beloved in the Lord, Hannah raised a song of praise to God, for giving her a child after many years of childlessness. She had received all kinds of mockery from Peninnah who in her pride, boasted of the children she had. The period of her trouble was a time of pain and agony, so she kept on trusting in God and waiting on Him in prayer. Then the Lord answered her by giving her a son- Samuel.
Our text is Hannah's prayer of praise for what the Lord had done. She acknowledged that our God is a rock. A firm foundation which can never be shaken and can never fail. Edward Mote, in church Hymnary 697 says,
"On Christ the solid rock I stand, All other ground is sinking sand"
Hannah saw God as the rock that will still stand when all friends and family have failed. God is indeed holy and no one can be compared unto Him.
Beloved in Christ, what are you going through in life which makes you feel as though every foundation you stand on is giving way? Have you been disappointed? Have you become a point of mockery because of the problems you suffer? Keep trusting God. He is a firm rock.
Like Hannah, if you continue to trust in the Lord and wait on Him in prayer, you will be the next to sing your own song of praise. Hallelujah!!
If you have received so much from God, stop mocking or laughing at others because God is still on the throne. Never write out someone else's story, for you may not know what plans God has for them. With God on our side, there can always be a turn-around.
God breaks the bow of the mighty but gives strength to those who are stumbling. He gives food to the hungry and makes those who were well fed, to go hungry. He blesses the childless woman with many children and can render a woman with many children childless. He is the God that killeth and also make alive. He brings some down to the grave and raises others up; He makes some poor and others rich; He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. Are you still proud of what you have? Be humbled and surrender your life to Jesus.
As we continue to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus, we are encouraged to trust God even in our troubles. If the Spirit which raised Christ from death, lives in you, He can also raise you up from where you are, and give you a song of victory. Mary the mother of Jesus, sang her song of praise in Lk. 1:46-55 (the Magnificat), in the pattern of Hannah's song. I pray that you too will be the next in line to sing such a song of praise, for what the Lord has done and is still going to do in your life. No matter what you may be going through, keep trusting and hoping in the Lord. I pray for the day to come when English speaking Cameroonians will sing the song of praise for what the Lord has done when the Lord brings down the mighty from their thrones but exalt those of low degree.
Abba Father, we worship you for your great and mighty deeds. You are indeed a Holy and Awesome God. No one is like you. You exalt the lowly from the dust and put them on thrones. We thank you for always being there for us. We may be down today, but we know that we will not be down forever. I may be in lack and want today but I know that, as I trust in you and wait on you, I will never remain in want forever. I may not be where I want to be today, but at least I am not where I used to be, so I am grateful Lord. Continue to do your good works in my Life, and I will keep telling of your goodness and singing your praises, in all situations of my life, through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord. Amen
